walkers 2nd May 2019
Posted 2:45pm
We have not mentioned our walk for a while - even though it happens every week without fail, regardless of weather, holidays or numbers. We have had 15, and we have had 2. But they are always inclusive, fun, with lots of laughter and has forged friendships.
We were joined by a new member today - Denise - who was referred to us from a health centre in the borough, and we had a lovely stroll around the fantastic Clissold Park (technically Hackney - right on the border).
We do advertise the walk extensively, and to be honest I am surprised the numbers are not larger, especially with the warmer weather coming in. It is amazing how many people will sit at home kin front of televisions not really learning anything - just being sedentary. Instead we have a great walk outdoors, combining benefits in physical and mental health.
We also can announce a meeting with Peabody tomorrow - with whom we want to do soe work on estates in Islington with the lottery bid money we are applying for - and need to get their backing. Ads it is a win win for all concerned I am hopeful.
Finally, we have a meeting with Islington Public Health next week - again it is important to get backing for lottery.
