Wednesday 31st August 2016 - progress being made

Posted 2:55pm
Just about to head off to the gym, but wanted to leave a quick update on progress.

Twitter is live, and we have now sent several tweets.  It is my first time using Twitter, and still finding my way.  I want to make sure that we send relevant and appropriate message.  I have mentioned sponsorship a few times, and will be contacting various places in regards to this.  We are now being "followed" by six accounts - and wanting that to grow substantially over next month or two  Exciting though!!

Kacper, my internet guru, keeps reminding me for wording to put on our initial website - and that is something I will be working on from tomorrow, as my time has been taken up with the funding application to Cripplegate, and getting the correct quotes for that.  I am also hoping to get a couple of letters - one from the local Medical Centre, and the other from Jeremy Corbyn.

I have followed up on several proposals, and will do the rest over next couple of days.  It's such an exciting project I hope that a few will use our service.

Tuesday 30th August 2016 - application, insurance and disability

Posted 12:25pm
Been working all morning on the funding application, changing wording and giving more explanations on certain sections.  I am very anxious to ensure we give ourselves the best possible opportunity to get as much as we can - it totals around £4500 - so not a huge amount - but could be very important.

I am waiting on an insurance quote - and have been sent a form to complete for the insurers to give us one for Professional Indemnity.  I am hoping, as it is a six month pilot, it will not be more than £200, but we are in their hands.  Insurance is very important when working with clients, especially when giving advice. Better to be safe.

I also contact Disability Action Islington.  No doubt, even if not on the pilot, at some stage we will have clients with a disability of some kind.  I want to make sure that we have procedures in place, as well as an understanding of what would be required for us.  The guy seemed interested, and we will be meeting up in a couple of weeks to sit down and chat.  All very positive.

Monday 29th August 2016 - twitter, logos, and personal journey

Posted 4:28pm
I have been preparing the Twitter account - trying to "follow" as many relevant people, organisations and companies that I can find.  It will take time to build them up properly.  I think I should send the first tweet in next couple of days - but want to ensure everything is right!!!

HMHB is the umbrella company for different projects.  I therefore am looking at different logos for each project.  Ajani - the unemployment health/fitness project is one,  Izzwalkz (Islington Walks) is another.  There are internet companies that provide free logos (well, to design is free, but you do have to pay for a few things like business cards etc. - but the cost is minimal).  I will be looking to put this cost on the funding application which I will finish tomorrow night.  I am looking at new quotes on printing and insurance to include.

Personal journey - my target is to get down to 76kg.  Last Monday I was 87.7.  This morning I was the same.  That is totally fine. It is not all about the scales.  Mentally I am in a good place, full of energy, bouncing along.  I think I just ate too much, but recognise that.  I am following the program of getting up early, building a solid routine, keeping busy, and just need to buckle down on the food intake.  But it will come.  No rush.  Feeling good. :-)

Sunday 28th August 2016 - crucial week ahead

Posted 8:30pm
It is going to be a very busy week - with a lot of work and preparation.

The Cripplegate funding application must go in at the end of the week.  I am working on finishing that in the next couple of days.  I need to get a couple more quotes on Tuesday to finish this off - insurance, and printing.  I am also applying for travel, and I can claim for a small amount of salary (not much at all, but better than nothing). I am also getting final details about logos, domains, emails, yearly website costs.

I want to produce 5-10 videos to go on the Youtube - not for public view yet, but so we have some examples to show the funders.  Also, to give me an idea of how they will look and show friends to see what they think too.

I also need to clarify the booklets I want to produce with their content.  Will be working on Microsoft Publisher on those.

I have several emails to send, and also want to follow up on all the proposals again.  Considering we are offering to do a pilot for free you would imagine people would be falling over themselves to talk to us - but it has not been like that.

Friday 26th August 2016 - social media developments

Image result for cider

Posted 2:40pm.
First off, I must confess - am sitting in Wetherspoons Highbury with a lovely cold glass of Strongbow cider next to me - it's a very hot day, I have just come from the gym, and the thirst was calling.
I rarely drink alcohol.  A nice glass of wine on the odd occasion, but if I am out I tend to drink soft drinks or hot drinks.  But I do like a glass of cider - the fruity ones are particularly delicious - and a treat now and then is fine.

Met up with my internet guru, Kacper, earlier.  I am so grateful to him for his time, and efforts. Unpaid.  And I probably frustrate him a lot with my questions and suggestions.  We looked at several of the social media outlets we intend to use.

Youtube:
We have a channel set up.  We did a test video - mainly so I knew how to put it onto Youtube from my phone - great thanks to Kacper there.  Naturally we will also be putting video from a proper video camera too at one stage.
Videos we intend on making include our own bespoke fitness ones, some nutrition ones, general encouragement ones.  We also want to put feedback ones on there - from all parties: clients, companies, organisations, and ourselves.

Instagram:
We have an account set up for HMHB.  At the moment we have not used it.  We are really waiting for the program to start so we can put pictures from the events.  I am anxious to get the "Izzwalkz" on there too - our own walks in Islington - trying for three areas.  Will put a separate entry on this blog in regards to these.  But pictures from that too.

Twitter:
We have a twitter account too - we have not actually sent a tweet as yet - in fact I have to be honest and say that I have never sent a tweet in my life.  We have started following relevant and appropriate people and organisations - and we are going to build up that database first before deciding when to start tweeting and what the content will be.  Exciting though.

Facebook:
We had a profile - but I wanted that one deleted.  Which we have done.  We will start a new profile with the company name in a week or so.  I really think the content on this will be crucial, because a huge number of people use Facebook, so we need to determine exactly what we want to show on this profile.

Website:
This is gradually being built - both Kacper and myself are learning here.  It is not as easy as the adverts make out, but we have the pages we want - we just need to start filling in the content.  I need to supply Kacper with quite a bit of wording, which I will be working on over the next few days.  It would be good to have a test site ready, even if not published live, so when we go to the funders we can show them an outline.

Thursday 25th August 2016 - Funding Application

Posted 11:55pm
Had a terrific afternoon meeting with Scott.
We went over the Cripplegate Funding Application, and he had some great additions, and changes, to what I had put.  It is always good to let others go over your work.  I am not arrogant enough to believe that I can get it right.  I have been lucky to be able to get the advice I have.

So I made several changes, and have a few others to do, before sending in the application next week.
It is looking good.  I wont count chickens though.  I have had other funding applications in the past that we ticked all the boxes and they got turned down.

I had a call from Change Live Grow (the new name for ISIS North - Islington Substance Abuse company who have clearly changed their name for obvious reasons).  I have arranged a meeting with them for next week to discuss working with their clients.

Thursday 25th August 2016 - good meeting with Health Centre

As I am waiting for a meeting with Scott, I am reporting on my earlier meeting at my local Health Centre, with their Practice Manager, Faheta.
It went very well.  Fortunately, they are in the position of fully understanding how the project can significantly benefit people's lives.  Confidence, self-belief, and good well-being is fundamental in keeping people strong and happy.  The medical profession can see how early intervention can negate both physical and mental conditions.

Faheta was very encouraging.  My passion for the project was clear, and I think that helped.  I mentioned that I would like clients to get a NHS Health Check, which they can free of charge at their doctors.  She also advised me that it can normally be done very quickly - so no need for a long appointment.  That would bring up issues on weight, cholesterol, behaviour. It is a good indicator if any help from that side is required.  Maybe even a wake up call for people.

But also, we discussed how we can involve other agencies - such as smoking, alcohol, substance abuse, and raise awareness of problems that occur when unemployed, or going through stressful issues.  The program, although aimed at the unemployed, would assist people in work, as well as NEETs and Probation, and of course people with health issues.

I am going to go along to a Patients Group, and she had a couple of great contacts for me to follow up.  All in all, this could be the start of a great HMHB relationship with the local community.

Tuesday 23rd August 2016 - planning

Posted 9:20pm
Been doing a lot of thought on website.  Especially planning.
The other day we looked at logos for Ajani (the unemployment project) and for IzzWalks (a walking project for Islington.  HMHB is the umbrella company.

Found a great site that does logos - and you can get business cards and other stuff at a decent price with the logos on.  That is something to look at.

Still finishing the Power Point, and the Cripplegate funding app.  Tomorrow sitting down to look more at Social Media - making sure that the Twitter, Youtube, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn are all set up ready.

Not much new news.  But chasing up on proposals.

Monday 22nd August 2016 - health centre news - website - plus personal success

Posted 3:15pm
An afternoon entry, but feeling particularly energised at the moment.
Firstly, HMHBhas had a couple of important contacts today.
I had approached my local Health Centre to discuss working with them and our clients.  The Practice Manager asked me to send them some paperwork, and today she rang me to invite me for a meeting. She has already asked me to join the Patient's Group they run.
She likes the concept and wants to see what they can do.  I think this can really help influence us as we look for further funding, and maybe sponsorship.
I am meeting with her on Thursday, just before a meeting with Scott, as we go over the funding application for Cripplegate (up to £5000), and the Power Point presentation I have been working on.
Very exciting stuff.

I also had a text conversation with Business In The Community.  They are restructuring, and the lady I have been dealing with is leaving at the end of this month.  But she has promised to forward on the proposal to their National Team with a view for contact with them.  Fingers crossed.

This morning I met up with Kacper, my internet wizard.  We worked on pages for the website, and the general outline is taking shape.  I need to submit paragraphs and wording, and think about background pictures.  But I liked what I was seeing.  We want to have a basic site we can show the funders so they can see what their potential money can achieve.

And on a personal front, this is the start of my new journey - showing that using my own program you can achieve better energy levels, be more confident, feel fitter and healthier, and have a better well-being.  With that in mind, I weighed myself this morning - and was an upsetting 87.7kgs.  I want to be around 75kgs.  So I have 12.7 to lose - anyone who has followed me for a while might raise their eyebrows wondering how I have allowed myself to yoyo once more.  But this time feels so different.  I was up early (met Kacper in the gym around 6:45am), and I have already done two HIT sessions, walked over 15km, and stepped for 50minutes.  And will be going back later.  I must show people my system works.  The best ever incentive!!!!!

Sunday 21st August 2016 - Powerpoint - plus the Bootcamp mentality

Posted 5:10pm

Image result for powerpoint

Should finish my Power Point presentation today - been working on this to demonstrate the client's journey from referral to the end of the program.  It was a suggestion by Scott, as he felt a visual description might be useful as we approach companies and funders.

I have used Power Point several times in the past, and enjoy designing the slides, and it has felt good to be getting back into that frame of mind again.
Once finished I will put a few slides on this blog to show what I have done.

Bootcamp mentality.

The reason I have put this is twofold.
Firstly.  It is how we really want to put the project across.  Not that they should be going on one, but how to try and make them think:
  1. Maintaining a positive outlook
  2. Pushing yourself every day
  3. A never say die attitude
  4. Realising that your health and fitness is your own responsibility
  5. Your well-being is as important as your physical health
  6. You only have one body, treat it carefully
  7. You are not in competition with people
  8. Have practical and realistic targets
  9. Don't allow outside issues to cloud your vision
  10. Keep a record of success, and reward yourself accordingly
  11. Realise you will have some bad days, but don't allow them to be "what the hell" moments and spoil your journey
  12. Treats are fine
  13. Look forward, not back
  14. Build a good routine
Secondly:  I have said that I am the guinea pig, and whenever I have used the approach above I have done well, and when I have fallen back it is when I have abandoned the ideal.
So, from tomorrow morning I am going to treat myself as if I am on a bootcamp.  This includes exercise, nutrition, etc.  Three meals a day.  No snacks.  Smaller portion.  Healthier food.  More high untensity.  I am going to do this for three weeks.  One day a week will be a rest/treat day.  I know I can succeed.  I have falled back far too many times.  I will weigh myself tonight.  This is because I have a target of a weight I would like to be (again!!!!).
I will be very disciplined.  This is the program I am promoting to others - so if i cant do it how can i expect them to?

Thursday 18th August 2016 - booklets, plus me the guinea pig news

Posted 8:25pm

Image result for booklets

HMHB intend on producing three separate booklets to give to our clients, alomgside the practical help and assistance.

The first booklet will be very similar to our evidence booklet.
It shows the links between unemployment and:
smoking patterns
alcohol intake
substance abuse
poor nutrition
mental health issues
social issues
financial problems
People need to be aware of the pitfalls that creep up very fast.

The second booklet will be out fitness/exercise booklet.  This will accompany the videos we are going to be publishing on out video channel.  The aim is to show you do not have to go to a gym, but can do various common exercises in your home, our outdoors, that will enhance your fitness, raise your energy levels, and keep you healthy and happy.

The third booklet is going to be based on good nutrition, but basing it very much on people with a small amount of money.  Yes, we would all love to be able to buy avocados, salmon, coconut oil, quinoa, sweet potatoes (and yes we should be able to do some) but we also need to see what we can do on a tight budget.  Exciting times.

I have also detailed that I am thee perfect guinea pig for my program.  I have lost weight, put on weight, got fit, lost the fitness, and need to push myself and focus, and being able to demonstrate that by using my own program I have progressed would be terrific.
I did say that I was not going to put my weight or anything.
But actually I think I need to be able to show how I am doing - be that good or bad (hopefully mostly good).
With that in mind I am going to start doing that from Monday.  Anyone who followed my previous blog would know I have started, stopped, started again, fallen back, restarted - frustrating for myself and thee people following.
This time, I cannot drop back as I am going to let potential funders and organisations know about this blog.  It's a good incentive - even though I have always had them.  So that will be from Monday morning.  Let's see how I do!!!  :-)

Wednesday 17th August 2016 - Power Point and Social Media, and following up proposals

Posted 10:25pm
It's a whole mix of emotions at the moment.  What with proposals going out, and a couple of good meetings, the feeling that the launch is going to happen this autumn is electric.
I have so much to work to do - it's scary - but thrilling - but daunting - but amazing!!!

Today I met with Scott, and went over the Power Point presentation I am completing to show funders and prospective businesses.  It's nearly finished, and he had some terrific input on a couple of changes and additions.  I will be making those adjustments tomorrow - as well as typing up the crib sheet to go along with the slideshow.

He also had printed off the last two proposals - although I am still looking around for other companies to talk to and see if we can work with them.
So far, we have approached:

Single Homeless Project (SHP) - followed up and they will be calling us in for a meeting
Business In The Community (BITC) - left couple of messages, but will pop in tomorrow.
JobCentre Plus (JCP) - very happy to work with us when we are up and running, as this is part of their rules.  But happy to advise us - off the record - aand following our progress.
Family Mosaic Housing Association - it's my HA, but proving very difficult to talk to.
Circle Housing Association - terrific first meeting, expressed solid interest, and follow up meetings to happen
Hyde Group (Housing Association) - email confirmation of interest, but want to see how it works with others first, as not sure they can commit to it at the moment.
Newlon Housing Association - email confirming interest and I need to send them more information, and I am going to ask for a face to face meeting to go over the project.
Peabody Housing Association - proposal has gone out and now need to chase up
ISIS North (Islington Substance Abuse) - proposal has gone out and now need to chase up
Islington and Shoreditch Housing Association - proposal going out tomorrow
Barnsbury Housing Associatiion - proposal going out tomorrow

We are also working on website building, and looking at all Social Media outlets.  Finally, I need to work on the exercise booklets, and nutrition booklets, as well as work out how we want to produce the videos for the site.  But all go!!!

Wednesday 17th August 2016 - personal journey ahead

Posted 11:30am
Right.  I am using myself as an example of how the project works.
But like many people, I find it very easy to give out advice, or know what I need to do to improve myself, but when it comes to action I then seem to do the opposite.
I need to stop doing that, take control, focus, and buck my ideas up.

I have yoyoed all over the place for the last three years.  This means I get towards my target (or even reach it at one stage) and have then allowed outside issues - that have been really tough - to knock my confidence and I get back to visitng the cake aisle at the supermarket. :-)

So, here I start again.  But this time I must do well.  But realistic targets.  Stop putting pressure on myself.  So, I am not going to put my weight.  But I am going to say I want to lose 12kgs.
The reason I am starting again now, is that yesterday was a big birthday.  I wanted to get that over and done with, and push on.  Lots of incentives.
I will put on the blog how I am progressing - and what I am doing - following the project ethic.

Wednesday 17th August 2016 - planning ahead

Posted 11:20am
A morning entry - now there is a surprise.
This afternoon I am meeting my business mentor Scott.  I will be collecting my final two work proposals - these ones with the Islington and Shoreditch Housing Association, and the Barnsbury Housing Association.

I have also nearly finished my Powerpoint presentation - which I am preparing to show the journey of the client.  Quite fun to do, and hopefully looks quite professional.

I have also started on the Cripplegate funding application - we can ask for up to £5000.  Which I am guessing would mean around £3000.  You cannot ask for anything you have already bought.  And they also restrict what you can buy.
I would be looking for the costs of all the printing (booklets/forms), travel for a year, insurance, and printer ink.  You can also ask for salary.  Now, I am on benefit and not earning anything.  But the job centre have told me that I can earn £100 a week - working less than 16 hours - and not have it affect my benefit.  So that is what I am going to ask for.
I also have Kacper who is currently looking at my website, and also knows more about social media than myself.  I would like to see if I can get a sort of cost for him too.  But that is up to the funders.

I have also started chasing up meetings on the first lot of proposals that went out.

Monday 15th August 2016 - Bootcamp effect!!! - Hillmotts

Posted 9:50pm

The fitness side of the project has gone through several adaptations since the original concept nearly seven years ago.  But the main influence on its development came from attending a Fitness Bootcamp in Oxfordshire nearly three years ago.

Hillmotts-001-logo

www.hillmotts.co.uk

Personally, it was the best thing I could have done at the time.  It wasn't an army type bootcamp. The responsibility was very much on the person attending.

It taught me a great deal, about myself, about exercise and nutrition, and I have used it as a base for part of what I am trying to achieve with the Ajani project.

People often use fitness programmes because they want to look better, lose weight, gain some muscle, or just improve their overall health.
What Hillmotts taught me included:

stop using the word "diet" - just eat healthier and cleaner (natural), but still allow yourself an occasional treat.
look at yourself in the mirror - if you are unhappy about things, then do something about it.  Naturally their are certain conditions where that is not the case - where people have eating disorders.  But generally you know if you are overweight, or underweight.  It's your choice what you do.
be more active - you do not have to attend a gym to improve your fitness - you can do exercises at home, or outdoors.  It is also much more fun with more people - be that one person or twenty.
get out more.  walking is a fantastic exercise.
you are going to have good and bad days - i have notoriously yoyoed since  my initial bootcamp.  i have allowed outside issues to cloud my judgement and have used eating as a crutch.  but that crutch could be anything - alcohol, drugs, smoking, food, spending.  You need to take control.
set yourself realistic targets, and dont worry if it takes longer to get there.  as long as you keep pushing yourself, success is round the corner.  reward yourself with a s,mall treat now and then - not food, drink, or alochol, but maybe a trip to the cinema, or an item of clothing.

Overall, the Ajani project is putting the onus on the individual to improve themselves with the tools we provide.  I thank Hillmotts for the mindset that they have installed in me.

Sunday 14th August 2016 - launch of news blog

Posted 6:05pm

Launched my new blog today.  This blog here is for news on the project and how it is developing. It will be demonstrating how it gets off the ground and, moving forward, hopefully will get contracts and grow.  It will also put a bit on my own journey as a guinea pig of m,y own project.

The new blog is different:

www.hmhbnews.blogspot.com

The new blog is covering the extras I used to put in my old blog.  I like to find articles surrounding fitness and health, as well as nutrition and exercise.  I also like to find news around nutrition and well being.  This blog will cover all of these.  I will find it exciting.  And it will all be from the point of view of someone who finds life can be a struggle.

You can see fitness videos where the person demonstrating has a perfect body.  They advocate eating avocado and quinoa, and items that can cost more than the usual shop - things that people who are unemployed, or in poverty can really do.  I want to do things from the normal person point of view, and point out news on issues as they appear.

Not everything is relevant to everyone, but hopefully the items will be interesting.

Friday 12th August 2016 - good meeting - solid week - developing the second blog

Posted 9:55pm
Had a cracking meeting earlier with Circle Housing.  Obviously, more to discuss but they thought the project would work very well alongside their own employment work, and said they could not see any reason not to allow us to do a pilot with a small number of tenants.
Went better than I could have hoped.  I am emailing more paperwork to him this weekend, and hopefully will get a meeting next week.

My original blog from last year, I used to put in articles and features around exercise and nutrition. And I wanted to continue that in a separate blog which would just be for that purpose.
So I will start that on Monday.

I think this week has shown that whatever the task is ahead,, and however daunting, you just need to keep faith and keep going.  There's no guarantee of success - and that could still end up like that for me - but you make your own luck.

This goes for anything - whatever your targets!!!  Keep at it.

Thursday 11th August 2016 - videos/photos - proposals - thoughts on a second blog

Posted 9:30pm
Excitingly, all printed proposals are now out.  I have two more to prepare, and am already looking around for others to approach.  A meeting with Circle Housing in the morning - was meant to be on Wednesday but they rearranged.  I will follow up on Monday on all that have been delivered.

Good chat earlier with Adam, my fantastic Personal Trainer friend who will oversee the fitness side of the project.  We plan on doing bespoke videos for the website.  The ones you see on the web tend to be just one person demonstrating straight to camera, and they are normally very fit/athletic in build.  It can be daunting for people watching.
We want to show what "joe average" would look like - and having someone coach at the time showing what is good form and what is bad form is imperative.
It was Adam's idea the previous time we spoke, and as soon as he said it I thought it was a cracking idea.  He said we would also be able to get still photos off the digital video camera, which we can put into the booklet we are also going to produce.  Another brilliant concept!!!  Yay!!!

We are hoping to film some videos before the end of August - as we are looking for some funding at the start of September, and would be good to be able to show video footage at the time.

All in all, things continue to develop.  I am almost certain I am going to start a second blog to run alongside this one.  The new one would cover articles on fitness/health, as well as general fitness, health and nutrition advice.  We are constantly bombarded with information in the media, and it will be fun to try and put our own outlook on this, especially from the point of view of someone who is not involved in that particular field.  I will launch that one on Sunday I think.

The next three days are therefore going to be very busy.  A huge amount of preparation still to do.  It is daunting and scary - no doubt about that.  But also exciting!!!  :-)

Wednesday 10 August 2016

Wednesday 10th August 2016 - seven key words!!!

Posted 9:00pm
Will have all proposals out, that I have completed so far.  There are two more to prepare, which I will get out at the start of next week.
I did a list on my phone earlier, a reminder list - detailing all the things I still have to do.  It got longer and longer, and demonstrates the huge amount of work that has so far gone into getting to this stage.

I do have seven key words - listed in my flat - that I try and live/work behind.  I have to make a lot of effort to try and keep to them.  They are also the words we are going to concentrate on with our clients.

They are (in no particular order)

PROCRASTINATION:  Anyone that knows me, does know that I have had an issue with that over the last few years.  I have been trying very hard to keep up with paperwork and decisions.  There has definitely been improvement, but even now I need to ensure that I don't put things off, and allow issues to build up.  Working on my own like this - despite the fact I have terrific friendship and support from certain people - means things can quickly get on top of me.
This is why it is one of the issues we want our clients to recognise can cause them problems while they are looking for employment.  The "I'll do it tomorrow" attitude needs to be broken.

ADAPTABILITY:  This is one of those "skills" that employers say they are looking for when they list their job descriptions.  I have had to do this with HMHB several times over the development of the concept.  I recall one particular network event where one conversation changed my outlook completely.  I also attended a bootcamp that made me adjust my thoughts on the fitness side of the program.  It is very important we recognise that we do not know everything, and circumstances come along that mean you might need to change your outlook completely.

PERSEVERANCE:  This is relevant to both my own struggle to getting this project underway, as well as my own life issues that have compounded the last few years.  I can therefore empathise with anyone that feels like giving up.  I have been there, and know how much it tugs at you.  Several times I have been told to give HMHB up, as "it's a great idea Lawrence, but no one is going to give you any money". I have almost felt people rolling their eyes as I have continued on.  I am not saying that if you carry on with something you will always find success, but at least try and follow your dreams until it is certain it cannot happen.  I have come a long way, and learnt a great deal about myself and others.

LISTEN:  I remember drawing up my first Business Plan, and being delighted with it.  I went along to a company that helped with 'Starting A Business'.  The bloke across the desk took the Plan, and very quickly told me - nicely - that most of it needed changing.  I was slightly miffed, but did what he suggested.  Suddenly, what was a bland and boring Plan came alive.  It looked amazing.  Always listen to advice.  I would say, not all of it is good and constructive.  You do not have to go with it.
But always listen.  I have attended hundreds of meetings over the last six/seven years setting this up.
There is normally at least one or two pieces of information that have jumped out at me.  The reason I am as far along as I am, is that I have been lucky to have a mentor, Scott, who has kept me focused with encouragement and patience, but most of all belief.  His advice has been crucial.

RESPONSIBILITY:  It does not matter how much you talk about things, it is your own responsibility to make sure tasks are fulfilled.  That can be anything.  Yes, on occasions you may be able to delegate to someone else.  I am hoping to get my website completed soon.  It is something I cannot do, but have arranged for a friend to look at it for me.  But most of what I need to do, I must do myself.  And this is very important for all my clients.  It feels like in this day and age that people want to blame others all the time.  No one wants to accept responsibility for their actions.  Proposals only get done if I do them.  Booklets get produced if I arrange it.  It's up to me to try and get some money for the project - support and backing.  Don't rely on others to do what you should do.

PRO-ACTIVE:  Anyone that knows me, and read my old blog, knows how much I like that word
Nothing gets done by sitting back and waiting.  I used it a lot when I was recovering from depression, and having major fits of self-pity.  I would sit at home and do nothing.  And of course no progress would be made.  As soon as I started getting out, preparing papers, making calls, arranging meetings, things came alive.  That automatically gives one a life.  The secret of most success is ensuring that you will be at the right place at the right time.  The only way to do that is to get out and about.

CHOICE:  This is the most important word.  For everyone - me, my clients, you, everybody, we choose how to react to situations.  We do not always have control over everything in our lives. Others may make decisions that affect us - government, bosses, landlords etc.  And there will be good things and bad things.  But we can choose how we react.  We can get depressed and disappointed.  We can get angry and defensive.  We can use crutches to help us (for example alcohol, substances, food) when we get stressed and down.  Or, we can choose to fight and stay positive.  It is not easy.  I know. My own struggles are known to people.  And I have taken the wrong option.  Hopefully, I now recognise when things might go wrong and know how to deal with it.  It's my choice. A massive word!!  An important one.

Tuesday 9th August 2016 - The story so far (both project and myself)

Posted 9:30pm
Started work on website today - a lot harder than it first appeared.  Good friend Kacper, came round. We started using one of those free internet sites to build.  They lie about it taking only fifteen minutes to get up and running.  It's quite convoluted, and I think I frustrated my friend a bit.  He went off with some ideas.  I really am appreciative of his help.

I will also be distributing the remaining proposals tomorrow, and fingers crossed I will get some meetings.  I dropped off paperwork to the local medical health centre as well.

It has taken a long time to get to where I am.  Over the last six years I have attended hundreds of meetings, and spent thousands of hours on this - and probably used up around £5000 of my own money too (which I could do with badly at the moment. lol).  It has been a struggle at times.  There have been occasions when I have considered stopping - but thankfully I had faith in my concept, and found enough people around me to encourage me on.  I am very grateful to all of them.  And the continuing assistance I get.

The same goes with my own weight/fitness issues. I have had a couple of depressive times - it's the way it goes.  Doing well not of course - but still have off days, and times of reflection.  I want to lose 12 kgs.  I am not going to say my current weight.  It matters not.  Psychologically, I ran the New York Marathon in 2000 (4hrs 43mins) and was very happy at the time - and I just feel I would like to be that weight again.  I did manage to do that last year, and then circumstances came about that affected me, and I yoyoed back up.  But my own focus now is to lose 12kgs.  And that is what I will be reporting on through here, using myself as a medium to show my program working!!! (So I must do well - I cant ask people to do something I cannot).

But there is going to be a long journey ahead for this blog - for my project - and for me.  I will be incorporating the blog into the website.  That's quite exciting.

Monday 8th August 2016 - exciting phone calls - my own personal targets

Posted 10:30pm
Been a good day for developments.
Had a meeting with the Borough Relationship Manager for Islington Job Centre Plus - a terrific guy - and very helpful.  I need to work the project with other companies first - but if I can show that people feel one of the outcomes is that they either got back into work quicker, or have more confidence they can achieve that goal, then the JCP will promote me.

I had several good phone calls.  I have been trying to meet with my own Housing Association's employment team without success for a while (Family Mosaic).  I finally put a complaint in, and lo and behold I get an apologetic call, and they will be calling me in to discuss the project.
I also spoke with the local Medical Practice - my own Doctor - which is just round the corner from me.  The Practice Manager called me - and she was very enthusiastic.  I am dropping round somme paperwork tomorrow, and then we will meet.  She also invited me to be part of their Patient Group - which was very nice.
There is also an Islington company dealing with 18-24 year olds, mainly with a sport background - and I was linked to them via the Council.  Another person I am now dropping paperwork off to.
All in all, a good contact day.

I picked up four more printed proposals from my terrific mentor, Scott.  He is printing them off at his office, which looks morre professional than my small printer, and I thank him so so much.

Tomorrow, Kacper, my website guy, is coming round to see if we can get one set up the way I want it. The website is going to be a focal point, with our own bespoke videos, blog, news feed, and info.  I want it to reflect the relevant needs of our potential clients.

Big smile on my face at the moment.  Must remain positive.  So now I come to my own personal targets.  Anyone who followed my previous blog  (www.lazzafitness.blogspot.com) would understand the ups and downs I have gone through (no need to say here).  I have yoyoed a bit with fitness, weight and health.
My personal MOT is getting myself back into a good frame of mind when I look in the mirror.  I am someone that needs pushing (one of the reasons I know my project would work, as it is what I would have liked to have offered to me).  But I am ambitious and focused - even if I do go off key on occasions!!!
But my own personal target is to get to 76kgs.  I will weigh myself tomorrow, and will use my own program to push me on to success.  I like to think that I am like a lot of people - I have targets, but do striiggle, for whatever reasons.  Everyone is different and has their own stresses.  But the only person who can make positive changes is you yourself.  I need to be that person too.  :-)

Sunday 7th August 2016 - Social Media Updates - and this coming week

Posted 8:35pm

Although not public yet, as I need to ensure that everything is done right, and that it is what I want the public to see, I have been creating my social media outlets.

I got my business cards off Vistaprint - and a couple of t-shirts with the logo on!!

Had a great meeting earlier, with someone younger than my own children, who is helping me create a website.  On discussions, it is going to be at least six pages, and possibly up to ten to start.  Exciting seeing it come to life.  Aiming to start publishing it in around two weeks time, for those in the know.

I have also got a Twitter feed, an Instagram account and Facebook.  The social media side is very important for our output, and to get our outcomes.

This week approaching is very important.  Lots happening so far.
I have already delivered five proposals to work with companies/organisations.
This week I will be delivering a further six.
I already have meetings with two - the Job Centre Plus on Monday (I have already met and spoken with this guy once, and he was very encouraging - and Circle Housing on Wednesday - the email I had from the guy showed interest.
I am meeting with the website guy on Tuesday to develop the pages and get most of it done.
I am finishing off the Powerpoint presentation I am preparing - it wont be ready for JCP (unless I can get it done tonight) but will be for Wednesday and further on.  That is not an issue as the JCP are already fully aware of the concept.

I am also working out the finer points of the fitness videos and booklets I want - and will be speaking with my friend Adam about these.
