Lazza, Luke and Dean looking very happy

We don't get together as a three enough but, following the terrific exercise session this morning at Highbury Leisure, Luke, Dean and I sat down to go over the project. I find this invaluable. I still remember taking over as manager of an international charity way back in 2000. I had never done anything like it before - my first foray into being the boss. It was totally daunting, and even the staff (at a later date) said they had reservations. But it was the staff meetings that we introduced that won them over. I made sure everyone was involved, that communication was good, and the management was transparent. It makes such a difference.

This morning we went over the courses ahead, talking about things we can do to improve the delivery, increase the fun, bring in new games, and build on the success so far. We talked about ways to include different ways of talking about our health, as well as trying other fitness/exercise routines. We want to demonstrate other ways to think about mindset, and desal with nutrition in our bodies.

On the back of the meeting I have reconnected, via email, with the Red Cross, who came and did a fantastic first aid class with our users before, as well as the oral health team and stop smoking team. We also decided to have at least one joint outing in February and another in March, and it was exciting to talk about possible places we have not visited before, such as various museums (I love the Science) or exhibitions of interest.

We are constantly looking to improve and adapt. We want people to remember our project with a smile, and obviously recommending it to others. Finally being able to work with the unemployed, the original focus for Healthy Minds, Healthy Bods, is a thrill - stressful, thrilling, apprehensive but ultimately brilliant.

We have also made a focused effort to tie down a venue in the Regents Park area, and have another three meetings in the diary - all next week - with that in mind (hoping for a fourth too).
