Wednesday 8th January 2020 - Meetings galore - and all are great

What a day and a half. At the end of last week we wrote to people, not asking for a meeting, but saying we were turning up on a certain date and at a certain time. This proactive stance has proven to be fantastic. Instead of waiting for people to confirm dates etc, we just arrived and chatted.  A couple of people had to contact us, and we were able to rearrange.  I wish I had thought of this strategy a year or more ago!!!

Anyway, we have had five meetings over the last 24 hours, and we have organised another two, and made contacts for others as well. Talk about productive!!!!  And the meetings we have had have all been top notch.

Yesterday we hooked up with Better Lives, and it looks like we will definitely be able to use their office on Seven Sisters Road for our Finsbury Park Job Centre course, which is terrific news. And in return we are going to do a freebie half day intervention with their service users. That itself can lead to a good recommendation or reference, and possibly more work too? Who knows.

Luke, Eji, and Lazza
Kentish Town Job Centre - 8/1/20

Luke and Lazza headed to Kentish Town this morning to meet with the Camden Disability Adviser Eji.  It went very well indeed, and we will be going back there in two weeks time to speak to the key workers involved so we can find a suitable number to attend our course running at The Living Centre in February. Very excited at this link up, and having a chance to prove ourselves with the job centre.

After that, the guys walked down the canal for their second meeting with Pancras Leisure Centre manager James. We were particularly happy here, as we asked to use the studio 2 at the centre for free between February and March. We are looking, provisionally, at Thursday mornings between 9am and 10am. They were very open to us, and it looks as if this will happen. I have already forwarded on a copy of our insurance to them, and we need to send them a copy of Dean's Personal Trainer Level 3 Qualification certificate too. This is a real coup for us, and I just hope we get the numbers for that.

Luke, Peter, and Lazza
Living Centre 8/1/20

It was straight on to meeting number three, where we hooked up with Peter at the Living Centre. He was really helpful as we needed him to facilitate some meetings for us - and he gave us emails and addresses which will be very helpful.  His enthusiasm for our project has been encouraging and it is great to have him on our side.

Lastly, we then trudged up the road (by now Lazza's poor legs were aching) to Somers Town Medical Centre to try and hook up with the manager - Nazmin. Sadly she was in a meeting already, but we were encouraged to send her an email (which I already have done) and we hope for a meeting very soon. The lady on reception liked what we said.

We rewarded ourselves with a six inch Subway sandwich (tasted fantastic), and I have been busy following up on our meetings this afternoon.  Over 11000 steps so far today. Looking good!!!
